Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cloud Player handles user information when users sign in with Google and play their own Google Drive media on TV devices.

Overview

Cloud Player is designed to let users browse and play their own Google Drive videos and audio files on Android TV and Google TV. The app uses Google sign-in and Google Drive API permissions only to provide this playback experience.

Cloud Player does not sell personal information and does not request permission to edit, upload, delete, or modify Google Drive files.

Information We Access

Depending on the user’s sign-in and use of the app, Cloud Player may access:

  • Google account profile information such as name, email address, and profile image.
  • Google Drive file and folder metadata, including file names, IDs, MIME types, thumbnails, size, and modified dates.
  • Google Drive media content selected for playback by the user.
  • Temporary authentication session data used to pair the TV app with the user’s Google sign-in.

Google Drive Data

Cloud Player requests the Google Drive read-only scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly. This permission allows the app to read and list the user’s Drive files so the user can browse and play supported media.

The app uses this access to show folders, videos, audio files, thumbnails, and file details. Playback streams directly from Google Drive to the user’s TV app using the user’s authorized access token.

Cloud Player does not use Drive access to modify, delete, share, rename, or upload files.

Tokens and Sign-In

For TV sign-in, Cloud Player uses a backend-assisted OAuth flow. The backend completes Google OAuth after the user approves access on a phone or browser, then provides the TV app with access credentials required to call Google Drive.

Access tokens and refresh tokens are used only to maintain the user’s signed-in session and refresh access when needed. The TV app stores tokens locally using secure platform storage. Temporary pairing sessions expire quickly and are consumed after sign-in.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. Google account and Drive data is used to provide the app’s core features. Data may be processed by Google services as part of OAuth, Firebase, Firestore, and Google Drive API operations.

Data Retention

Temporary TV pairing sessions are short-lived and are intended to be cleared after sign-in. Locally stored tokens remain on the user’s device until the user signs out, clears app data, or revokes access from their Google account.

Security

We use HTTPS, Google OAuth, Firebase services, and platform secure storage to protect authentication data. No method of transmission or storage is perfect, but we design the app to minimize access and use read-only Drive permissions.

Your Choices

  • You can stop using the app at any time.
  • You can sign out in the app to clear local session access.
  • You can revoke Cloud Player access from your Google Account permissions page.
  • You can clear app data from your TV device settings.
